Mourinho says thanks to Chris Smalling and Phil Jones
After the last game against Newcastle there is no question at all that JOSE MOURINHO is preparing a summer revamp of his defence.
Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are in the spotlight.
The Mirror are reporting that the Manchester United duo are set to be axed as Mourinho has doubts about the players capability to cope with the responsibility they have, and this was made clear after the 1-0 loss against Newcastle on Sunday and 2-0 against Tottenham.
Both games were lost due to their defensive errors.
Chris Smalling most certainly will be transferred out of the Manchester United at the end of this seasons and this may be true for Phil Jones as well.
Mourinho now understands that his defence is United’s most significant weak points. The recent defence acquisition of his rivals is a wake up call for Mourinho.
City bought Aymeric Laporte for ₤ 57 million and Liverpool made out a record transfer fee of ₤ 75million on centre-back Virgil van Djik from Southampton.
If the rumours are correct, Leicester might lose their strong defender Harry Maguire as he is one of the players on Mourinho’s wishlist.
Besides Maguire, Mourinho will most likely like to see Real Madrid’s Varane in his first starting eleven.
